Linda Asbury is Retiring; City's Point-in-Time (PIT) Count; New Event Space on the West End; Mega-Sale at Pagano's Hardware

Happy 2024!
On behalf of myself and our Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support and your efforts with us to make Webster and the West End an exciting place to shop, dine, and enjoy our personal and professional service providers!

I have so enjoyed working with everyone for our common goal:  make the West End inviting by keeping it clean, safe, lighted, and a place to be. I will be retiring shortly as Executive Director and remain as needed for consultation. WABA's Executive Committee is working on the hiring of my replacement. Please go to our website for details of the position. I will keep you posted and will enjoy introducing our next leader to WABA!  We'll keep you posted in the process.

From the City of Alameda
Point-in-Time (PIT) Count

The City of Alameda is thrilled to announce that they will be conducting the bi-annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count on January 25, 2024. Their goal as a city is to survey sheltered and unsheltered individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the Island.

If you are a business or property owner who has knowledge of locations in the district where unsheltered individuals are sleeping, please fill out this SURVEY.

The PIT Count will be planned, coordinated, and carried out locally. Data and information from this survey will be used to generate funding and create essential services for our community. Volunteer hours will occur between the times of 5:00 to 10:00am and due to change in the continuing methodology, volunteers will be asked to survey individuals sleeping outdoors and in unsheltered conditions.

If you would like to join the fight to end homelessness, please reach out and volunteer. They are actively recruiting volunteers aged 18+ who would like to be a part of the count. Feel free to contact Andre Fairley at afairley@alamedaca.gov for more information.
