Signing Out — Linda Passes the Torch to WABA's New Interim Executive Director, Elissa Glickman

This will be my last contribution to the WABA newsletter. Over 7 years ago, I answered a "job opening" in the Alameda Sun for an Executive Director of WABA. With my many years of working with Chambers of Commerce, I was intrigued. Then I learned it was a part-time position, and I knew the job was it for me!  Doing what I love on a part-time basis was my dream job. And I live just 3 blocks away from the office!

I'm so very proud of Webster Street has become. This doesn't just happen. Working with the Board of Directors and various businesses within the district, we have created a vibrant place to shop, eat, and stroll.

Thank you to the WABA team:  Sandi Pilon and Carrie Madarang on special projects; Jody Colley, our social media guru; and Tj Swain, Virtual Bookkeeper. All have brought their passion for the West End to our endeavors.

Thank you to Sandy Russell, prior President of WABA, for her tireless energy for the good of the organization. We together "pivoted" our way through the Covid shut down. WABA came out of the pandemic stronger than I could have ever imagined.

Now, let's welcome WABA's Interim Executive Director Elissa Glickman and President Marie Ortega as they lead the organization to even better success stories.

Elissa can be reached at:  Elissa@westalamedabusiness.com.

I leave with a smile of what we've accomplished and what the future will be for the organization.

As always, it's a pleasure to advocate and represent West Alameda, a neighborhood I personally call home! I will be around to consult during the transition, then will start my next steps to volunteer at Thrifty Kitty. Thank you to everyone that shares my passion for my neighborhood!
